LINCOLN-MARTI y el semanario LIBRE convocan a todos los poetas a participar en el VIII Concurso Internacional de Poesías LINCOLN-MARTI 2010, bajo las siguientes bases:

1. Podrán participar en el concurso todos los poetas que presenten poesías inéditas en español, sin distinción de nacionalidad, edad, raza, religión u otra razón de limitación o discriminación. No se aceptarán poemas previamente publicados o que hayan participado en otros concursos. Sólo poesías inéditas en lengua castellana. No se permitirá la participación de poetas cuyas composiciones han sido premiadas en cualquiera de los tres primeros lugares en concursos previos auspiciados por estos convocantes.

2. Los poemas se presentarán en tres ejemplares mecanografiados, a dos espacios, por una sola cara del papel. No serán consideradas composiciones escritas a mano o vía cibernética.

3. Los tres ejemplares del poema aparecerán firmados con un lema o seudónimo para su identificación, estando prohibida cualquier señal que pueda descubrir al concursante. El nombre completo, dirección y teléfono del autor, así como el título del poema, se harán constar en otro sobre cerrado en cuyo exterior figurará exclusivamente el lema o seudónimo utilizado por dicho autor como firma de su poema. Cada sobre mostrará por fuera un solo lema o seudónimo y contendrá un solo poema. Para evitar cualquier identificación, los remitentes pondrán el seudónimo que usen en el sobre de envío, y no su nombre verdadero, que solo aparecerá en el sobre sellado que va dentro.

4. Cada autor podrá presentar un límite de una composición, la cual irá firmada con un seudónimo en un sobre cerrado.

5. El sobre conteniendo el poema llevará también en su interior otro sobre cerrado con los datos de identificación que trata la base 3, debiendo ser remitido por correo, --preferiblemente certificado, aunque no indispensable, para que conserven recibo-- a: VIII Concurso Internacional de Poesías LINCOLN-MARTI, 2700 SW 8 St., Miami, Florida 33135. No se aceptarán entregas personales que puedan identificar al concursante, ni envíos por medios electrónicos o cibernéticos.

6. Solo se admitirán los poemas recibidos hasta el 24 de febrero de 2010.

7. Se instituye un primer premio consistente en la cantidad de mil dólares y una placa. Un segundo premio de quinientos dólares y una placa. Y un tercer premio de doscientos cincuenta dólares y una placa. Todos los concursantes declarados aptos para participar recibirán un diploma alusivo. Los premios metálicos solo se otorgarán a los poetas de países cuyas circunstancias asi lo permiten.

8. El jurado estará integrado por no menos de tres miembros de reconocida actuación cultural, designados por los patrocinadores. Ni los organizadores ni el jurado mantendrán correspondencia con los participantes. La presentación al concurso implica la aceptación de estas reglas. Cualquier imprevisto que no esté establecido en estas bases será interpretado y resuelto única y exclusivamente por las instituciones organizadoras del concurso.

9. Los fallos del jurado serán inapelables y los poemas concursantes serán propiedad de los convocantes, quienes quedan en libertad de poderlos reproducir. El premio, o alguno de ellos, podrá ser declarado desierto o dividirse, a juicio del jurado. Es imprescindible estar presente en el acto para recibir cada uno de los premios asignados a los tres primeros lugares.

10. Los nombres de los ganadores serán dados a conocer en las proximidades del 20 de mayo de 2010.

LINCOLN-MARTI SCHOOLS and LIBRE newspaper are calling on all poets to participate in the “VIII LINCOLN-MARTI International Poetry Contest” according to the following guidelines:

1. Anyone is free to participate as long as they submit an unpublished work written in Spanish. Entries will not be limited by race, national origin, religion, or any other discriminatory basis. Previously published works cannot be accepted, nor can work submitted to another contest be included here. Only unpublished works written in Spanish are eligible. The participation of poets whose compositions have been awarded in anyone of the three first places in previous aids supported by these convoking ones, are not accepted.

2. Three typewritten, double-spaced copies of the poem must be submitted. The work cannot exceed one side of a letter-sized sheet of paper. Handwritten or e-mail entries will bet be considered.

3. The three copies of the poem will be identified only by the title of the work or a pseudonym of the author. Any identification of the author’s name or information on the submission is prohibited. The author’s name, address, telephone number, and the title of pseudonym used to identify the entry must be enclosed in a separate, sealed envelope that is identified on the outside only by the title or pseudonym of the entry. Each envelope will be identified by one title or pseudonym and will contain only one entry. To prevent identification of the sender of the entry, use the pseudonym to identify the return address so that the entrant’s actual name only appears inside of the sealed envelope that is enclosed with the entry.

4. Each participant will submit only one poem, which must be uniquely identified.

5. The envelope containing the poem must contain a sealed envelope with the information that is referred to in #3. The entry should be sent by mail, preferably certified mail to allow the entrant to conserve the record of the submission. Entries must be sent to: VIII CONCURSO DE POESIAS INTERNATIONAL LINCOLN-MARTI, 2700 SW 8 St., MIAMI, FLORIDA 33135. Entries cannot be personally delivered nor may they be sent via e-mail.

6. Only those entries that are received by mail as of February 24, 2010 will be accepted.

7. The winner of the first prize will receive $1,000.00 and a plaque. The second prize will be $500.00 and a plaque. The third prize winner will be awarded $250.00 and a plaque. All of the eligible contestants will receive a Commemorative Certificate. The metals prizes will be granted to the poets of countries whose circumstances will allow it.

8. The judges of the contest will be a minimum of three people of noted cultural involvement, designated by the sponsors. Submitting an entry to the contest indicates acceptance of these rules. Any matter not specifically addressed therein is left to the interpretation of the organizers and such shall be resolved exclusively by them.

9. The decision of the judges is final and can not be appealed. The submissions shall become the property of the sponsors, who are at liberty to reproduce the works. The prizes, collectively or individually, may be declared vacant or may be redistributed, at the discretion of the judges. It is required that any of the three winners attend personally to the presentation of awards in order to receive it.

10. The names of the winners will be made public on May 20, 2010.
