HOMEWORK

Homework Policy of the Lincoln-Martí Schools states, "Homework shall be encouraged and assigned to individual students when and where appropriate to enhance the learning situation and to provide for skill improvement. The types of homework and amount assigned shall be consistent with the ability of the student as well as his/her age and grade level."

Homework is not limited to material involving paper, pencil and books. Students should be encouraged to work on school projects, listen to worthwhile radio and TV programs, read good books, practice music, assume home responsibilities and participate in community activities.

Teachers should explain when, how and to what extent parents can participate to make homework a meaningful experience in an effort to broaden experiences, stimulate new interest, and create a bond between home and school

STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITIES 

Completing assigned homework as directed and in the spirit in which it was assigned.

Returning homework to the teacher by the designated time.

Submitting homework assignments which reflect careful attention to detail and quality of work.

Reading Requirements: devoting a minimum of 30 minutes each day to reading as an additional part of the homework assignment. Writing three to five sentences and/or  three paragraphs about the reading is required and will be graded. 

Rquesting missed assignment upon arrival to school after absence.

PARENTS'/GUARDIANS' RESPONSIBILITIES 

While it is understood that parents/guardians are not responsible for providing a great deal of assistance to their child in completing homework, there is still much that parents/guardians can do to promote good study habits. Parents'/guardians' responsibilities include:

Providing an environment conducive to study.

Providing continued interest and concern for the child's successful performance in school.

Encouraging and supporting the child in his/her performance of homework assigned.

Indicating an interest in assignments and assisting, if possible, when requested by the child. This is not to include performing the work for the child.

Supporting the school in regard to the child being assigned homework. Requesting assignments for the child when short term absences are involved.

Assuring that the child reads when specific homework assignments are not given or when they are completed before the specified time period for homework is over.

DRESS CODE

Teachers and all staff members must wear the appropriate school uniform at all time. Students or teachers will not be allowed in school without the uniform.

Students must dress appropriately with school uniform for school and all school activities, excluding field trips. Students are required to wear the Physical Education  uniform.

Girls wearing skirts may wear blue shorts underneath the skirts. Girls in grades K-6th must wear a blue jumper.

In cold weather girls may wear opaque blue or black stockings or blue pants that are not jeans under the skirts.

All students are required to have white buttoned-down shirt/blouse with logo as part of their uniform.  The Lincoln-Martí T-shirt or a plain white T-shirt may be worn underneath the white shirt/blouse at all times. The Lincoln-Martí t-shirts will  be specifically required for P.E , all field trips and/or special school activities. Only white undershirts will be allowed ,  HODED JACKETS  are not allowed. Students must wear the uniform at all times.

Blouse: White with logo

Skirt: Navy at knee level 

Shoes: Black

Socks: White

Jumper (Kinder-6th Grade): Navy

P.E. short: Navy with logo

P.E. T-shirt: White with logo

Sweater: Navy/White/Blue Jacket with logo.

Shirts: White with logo

Long pants: Navy/ with black belt

Shoes: Black 

Socks: White

P.E. short: Navy with logo

P.E. T-shirt: White with logo

Sweater: Navy/White

Blue Jacket: with logo.

 

Families are free to purchase their uniforms from any uniform provider or to make them at home. Please label your child's sweater, jacket, gym clothes, book bag, and books etc. with his/her first and last name in permanent ink.

THE SCHOOL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST ITEMS.

Jewelry is not part of the uniform.

UNIFORM WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!!!

General Appearance:

All students are expected:

  • To dress in a modest and a neat fashion.

  • To practice good hygiene.

  • To wear their shirts or blouses tucked in.

    Girls' skirts will not be short, but of a modest length. A modest length is being on the knee when the student is kneeling.

    Boys must be clean shaven . Beards and mustaches are not allowed.

    Boys must wear belts and well fitted pants.

    BOYS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO WEAR EARRINGS OF ANY KIND.

    TATOOS ARE NOT ALLOVED

    * The Principal may exclude a students from school for not using the uniform correctly.
