Mathematics

Category: Curriculum

The driving force behind mathematics instruction is to provide students with every-day mathematical competence, a necessity for all in today’s technological society. To this end, a daily minimum of 60 minutes of uninterrupted instruction in mathematics will be provided to students as indicated on the master calendar.

Within this time frame, students will engage in real-world problem-solving that develops reasoning, reflection, communication, and decision making skills. In accordance with the M-DCPS Competency-Based Curriculum, all mathematics instruction will be grounded in the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards as well as the Florida Standards for Mathematics. In kindergarten through ninth grade, the school will use state-adopted textbooks.
